Article: TiX TITANIUM

TiX TITANIUM
We build watches to be used, not babied. That’s why every Ontic case is made from TiX: the name we give to our specification of hardened titanium.

Why Titanium?
Titanium is the ideal material for a watch that actually gets worn. It’s about 40% lighter than steel, doesn’t rust, and laughs in the face of corrosion. It’s also completely hypoallergenic, so the only thing likely to irritate you is someone asking what “TiX” stands for. It’s the reason a 300-metre-rated Ontic still wears comfortably all day.

What is TiX?
We start with grade 2 titanium, then harden the surface using a diamond-like carbon (DLC) process. This forms a dense outer layer roughly four times harder than steel, giving the case outstanding scratch resistance without adding weight. It’s not paint, it’s not plating, and it won’t wear off. You can still scratch it, but you have to try pretty hard.

The Result
A case that’s lighter than it looks and tougher than it needs to be. Built for people who expect their gear to keep up, and don’t apologise to doorframes.
